Mellifera is a Philippine corporation registered
with Security & Exchange Commission on
28 June 2005. One of the incorporators, Mr.
Efren Antonio D. Baconawa, has been active
in the beekeeping industry since 1981. He
has commercial beekeeping experiences in Australia,
Canada and USA.
The main
activity of the company at present is to perfect
the art and science of commercial queen bee
instrumental insemination. The company is
aware that without good quality queens in
the Philippines beekeeping projects would
be a dismal failure. Natural queen bee production
in the Philippines is very difficult. Hence,
the only solution is instrumental insemination
of queen bees.
Currently,
the company is producing instrumentally inseminated
(II) queen bees, honey, nuc hives, pollen,
bee supplies, among others. The company also
provides beekeeping consultancy services.
